Pennies Heart
by eliotrausch on Jul.08, 2010, under Phos Stories
Our last and final tease of what will hopefully become a documentary release, late 2010. 8 LIVES. Spending 6 months with this family and especially Penny, who’s strength and courage changed our lives, was one of the greatest gifts this year. Its difficult to play the role of a storyteller when your subject and focus begin to transform your own life. Such a beautiful moment.

IN A BOX / by Shane West
by eliotrausch on May.19, 2010, under Phos Stories
Recently we met a kid smoking a cigaret outside of a church in Long Beach. He began to tell us a story about a man he had met in the streets who hung with the dirty of dirtiest. He was having a hard time singing his Hallelujah’s but had a passion for poetry. The next weekend we showed up and asked Shane to tell us his story.
The rest is IN A BOX.

the Give
by eliotrausch on May.07, 2010, under Phos Stories
Recently we had the pleasure to meet Tommy Petroni,
an amazing 16 year old kid with a passion for life.
In passing he humbly mentioned his interest in photography.
Upon research we quickly realized his brilliance and potential
to join us in the journey and art of story telling.

Phos Pictures along with Garret Marks stepped in to help Tommy take his passion and bring it to life. The rest is “the Give” and a live performance by Chloe Katerndahl. myspace.com/chloekaterndahl
Somehow we ended up on the front page of Vimeo again. Tommy and all of us were so stoked.

We are currently in post on another amazing vignette. Penny, a girl waiting for a heart transplant and an outcome that changed our lives. Stay tuned as we are hoping to have all these stories and more for the feature documentary release “8 Lives”. We should have all details @ www.8lives.com, in the coming weeks.

Part of a larger documentary in correlation with “Last Minutes with Oden” this is the second vignette / teaser released. Rey is an amazingly special individual which most would consider the forgotten or marginalized within our culture. We have developed an amazing friendship with Rey and hope to bring you more of his story very soon. From an on going struggle with heroin addiction, a dying grandmother who he loves and a passion for poetry this story is one of our favorites.

Last Minutes with Oden
by eliotrausch on Feb.15, 2010, under Phos Stories
Jason Wood raised just enough money last year to get his dog Odens leg amputated to remove cancer. Sadly the cancer spread and Jason had to make one of the most difficult decisions of his life. We showed up with our cameras and kept quiet. The rest is “Last Minutes with Oden” a vignette for a larger documentary project we are hoping to release before the end of 2010.

The Cayman Islands
by eliotrausch on Jun.17, 2009, under Phos Stories
Life has been abundant lately and we were recently blessed to follow the Uprising guys out to the Cayman Islands. What an experience, producing 2 shows over the coarse of 10 days with little sleep and only brief moments in the turquoise waters – darn! Our main goal was to uncover some of the inner city issues and drug problems the island has been experiencing recently. We were faced with a government and culture that needed help but feared tarnishing their reputation as a tourist economy. A beautiful challenge and a handful of overflowing hard-rives, we are back home, cutting away. It’s amazing how much we were changed personally by the stories and faces of the island. Thanks to the Cayman Outreach Association for making so much of the trip possible.

ukiah in 5d

This weekend we were able to get away for a bit up north, in Ukiah. About 2 hours North of San Francisco. Project: A music video for a good friend our ours Chon Travis. Originally in the band Love Equals Death, Chon decided to leave and pursue his passion as a solo artist. We showed up with a small team and the new Canon 5D SLR camera. Wow. What a difference. Amazing footage and a fairly simple work flow. I have a feeling the industry is in for a shocker. Looking forward to chopping this one up. www.myspace.com/chontravis
